Value - What is it?

1) Why is value so important in art?
Value is important in art because it shows us texture, light, and shape without even touching an object.
2) How does the element of value relate to the element of texture?
The element of value relates to element of texture because value shows texture through the amount of light and darkness being presented.
3) List five ways of showing value.
- Cross hatching
- Shading
- Scribbled hatching
- Darkness
- Lightness
4) Describe what we mean by "building value".
Building value means to create lightness and darkness in certain areas (in my opinion).
5) How do we best see value?
We best see value by squinting with our eyes so that we "blend" the image.
