Importance of Value

Everything we see has value. But in art, without squinting we cannot see the proper transition in lightness and darkness. There are many ways to create value without shading. Stippling and cross-hatching can also create the same result.

                        

Texture

What is Texture? Texture is the way something feels, or looks as though it might feel. It is the "Surface Quality" of an object.
